Another month in Paradise

Check out this map, showing the 800-plus deaths linked to the insurgency and the occupation in Iraq in January. During demonstations, I hear from Bush supporters that the death toll isn't any worse than a normal period in the United States, for a comparable area and population. Imagine if in California, which is much larger and more populous than Iraq, there were 100 deaths in a month due to police/military conflict with civilians. We'd be at war--which is just what's happening in Iraq, month after month.
