WTF?

What are we doing in Iraq? What are we doing in Afghanistan? What are we doing with military bases in The Phillipines, in Korea, in Germany, in Greenland, in Guam, in Australia, for God's sake?

What are we doing?

i intend to visit some of these bases as a retired member of the military. But I must admit to a bias against spending on these bases when there is a need at home to support our economy. An analysis of the need for the bases is needed that is not tainted by the Rumfeld strategy of US defense needs.

Bill Moyers says (paraphrasing) that this giant of a country is bleeding heavily from savage, self-inflicted wounds, but that the future is still ours to write. He's a bright fellow, is Moyers, but I think I'm afraid the rough draft of that future is already writ in countless tons of concrete, poured by Halliburton.
