I disagree with these curators...

I think the Auschwitz sign should be put back where it can be seen in context and allowed to decay naturally.

I don't know what's best for the sign, but I think "Arbeit Macht Frei" is just ripe for appearance in a novel. It's Orwell writ large, literally.
